The
Bible - The Great Controversy or God's breathed?
The
Word of God
"Faith
rests on the promises contained in the Word of God,
and
those who place their trust in God can claim boldly the glorious
promises,
that is in Christ Jesus our Lord, our great reward." -
Benjamin Song
We
should be rational in our religious beliefs, instead of just blindly
following what our forefathers and parents believe, we need to apply
reason and not just emotion to figuring out what our religious beliefs
should be. The skeptics deny the existence of God, rob his sovereignty,
murdered those who believe in the Christ. They are fast to condemning
the works of God, but you are humble and seek the truth.
“How can you quote the Bible to prove the Bible?".
Therefore physical facts are presented, so that you may believe.

Bible
Unity.
The Bible, making up of 66 books, contains the laws,
thoughts and will of God, which he communicated through 40
different human writers, with different cultures and backgrounds,
on 3 different continents over a period of 1500
years. Note that some of these writers were not highly-educated
and trained; some were fishermen (Simon Peter and John), shepherd
(Amos), tax collector (Matthew). And God is the One Author.
More amazingly, a writer named Paul was in fact a former persecutor
of Christians. All the writers have not met together to write
the whole Bible, and furthermore they address a wide variety
of subjects at different time sets, yet displaying an incredible
consistency and unity within the Bible.
The Bible deals with the history, biography, poetry, speeches,
proverbs, songs, parables, prophecies, romances, drama, sermons,
dialog, and ethical teachings, and the usefulness is stated
in 2
Timothy 3: 16 .
It presents an internally consistent theme: God's love for mankind
is eternal, and his mercy and grace extends to all, that is
in the redemption of Christ Jesus.

Archaeology
Findings
has supported and verified the accuracy of the bible. Historical
artifacts found have affirmed the existence of the events recorded
in the bible. The New Testament in the Bible is the best attested
ancient historical writing. Some 24,633 known copies (including
fragments) exist, of which 5309 are in Greek. The Hebrew Old
Testament has over 1700 copies (A recent estimate is 6,000 copies,
including fragments). Having over 5300 Greek manuscripts to
work with, detecting scribal errors in the New Testament is
more certain when comparing between its manuscripts.
a) Critics deny the existence of the Hittite
Kingdom in the bible.
However archaeologists discovered the Hittite capital in modern
Turkey in early 1900s, and conclude that the civilization of
the forgotten Hittites is very vast and prominent.
<Bryce, T., The Kingdom of the Hittites, 1999>
b) Sir William Ramsey, one of the greatest archeologists,
demonstrated that one of the New Testament authors Luke
made no mistake in references to 32 countries, 54 cities, and
9 islands.. <Ramsey,
W., Luke the Physician and Other Stories, 1979>
c) Furthermore Roman emperors (Augustus, Tiberius, and Claudius),
Roman governors (Cyrenius, Pontius Pilate, Felix, Festus, Sergius
Paulus, and Gallio), and Jewish kings (Herod the Great, Archelaus,
Antipas, Agrippa I, Agrippa II), whose names are all found in
the New Testament are attested by Classical history and the
writings of Josephus. The findings of archaeology have in fact
reversed the opinions of a number of former skeptics. One such
scholar Dr. William F. Albright, who writes:
"The
excessive skepticism shown toward the Bible [by certain schools
of thought] has been progressively discredited. Discovery
after discovery has established the accuracy of numerous details."

If
the Bible is truly God’s Word, then God will surely protect
his Indestructible Works
and this is confirmed by Jesus in Matthew
24: 35. And because of its importance,
the Bible has been sought out to be destroyed than any other
book in history. Constantly been attacked by political rulers,
religious purposes, modern science, atheists and agonistics,
with the bible believers persecuted for their faith, yet it
remains firm and true. And today it remains the most widely
published book in the world.

If
you do not believe in the historical facts, believe in the Fulfilled
Prophecies God has spoken to us in the bible.
Fulfilled prophecy is the best proof that the Bible is the Word
of God,
2
Peter 1: 21, and God is the
Sovereign. The Bible contains hundreds of details of history
which were written in advance before any of them came to pass.
a) In
Zechariah 9: 4, Tyre
is a great Phoenician city and a world capital for over 2000
years and God has declared that Tyre will lose her power on
the Mediterranean Sea. Today's Tyre is a small city in modern-day
Lebanon for the drying of fishing nets.
b) Another great example is the nation Israel.
Isaiah
41:14 proclaimed that this tiny nation ultimately
will prevail over its enemies, and that although its enemies
will cease to exist one day, Israel will survive. Remember the
fact that Israel has been conquered and destroyed times and
times by powerful nations and empires, such as Assyria, Babylon
and the Roman Empire. Israelites are being killed, exiled, scattered.
And even so, Israel is again a sovereign nation today, and Israel's
enemies - the empires of Assyria, Babylon, Rome, and the Nazis
have been
destroyed.
c) Well maybe you believe in the Old Testament, but not Jesus
Christ as the Messiah. However, some prophecies fulfilled by
Jesus are stated : Micah
5:2, revealed the Christ would be born in
Bethlehem; Isaiah 53 detailed His suffering, work at the cross,
and resurrection.
The
Bible, a collection of books that spans so much both in terms of
time and geographically could not united by man's cause unless there
is really God. "How do we know if the
Bible today is still the same as the original copy?"
The discovery of the Dead
Sea Scrolls,
includes all the Old Testament books except for one. Comparison
with the texts of a thousand years later conclude that there is
little or no variation and change between them. The accuracy in
which it has been preserved despite attempts to modify and destroy
is evident that the Bible is indeed the Word of God. |
